China Confirms Trade Agreement with the United States, Including Lifting Restrictions and Reviewing Exports
On Friday, China confirmed that it has reached a trade agreement with the United States aimed at easing mutual restrictions and enhancing economic cooperation. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce indicated that Washington will lift some imposed restrictions, while Beijing will review the goods subject to export controls and approve their export if they meet legal requirements.
This announcement followed extensive negotiations between both sides that began in Geneva in May, resulting in a preliminary agreement to reduce mutual tariffs. Both parties also committed to a framework for resolving trade disputes during subsequent talks in London in early June.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce noted that both teams maintained close communication to finalize the details of the agreement, emphasizing that the goal is to strengthen trade relations between the two countries in a sound, stable, and sustainable manner.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the country had signed a trade agreement with China, without providing additional details. A White House official later confirmed that both sides had officially ratified the previously reached agreement.
