The Bavarians did not give their opponents much time to settle, with Kingsley Coman scoring the opening goal in the 6th minute. Sasha Boy doubled the lead in the 18th minute, before Michael Olise added the third goal in the 20th minute. Coman returned to net his second goal and Bayern’s fourth just a minute later.
As the first half came to a close, Thomas Müller made his mark with a fifth goal in the 45th minute. Olise struck again at the start of the second half, scoring the sixth goal in the 48th minute, affirming the Germans’ overwhelming superiority.
Substitute Jamal Musiala entered the fray and further intensified Auckland City’s woes, scoring a hat-trick in quick succession in the 67th, 73rd (penalty), and 84th minutes, before Müller rounded off the scoring in the 89th minute.
With this emphatic victory, Bayern Munich tops Group C with 3 points, followed by Portugal’s Benfica and Argentina’s Boca Juniors, who will clash on Tuesday, June 17. Auckland City finds itself at the bottom of the group with no points and a significant negative goal difference.
