Approximately 520 weekly trips… Morocco prepares to welcome its diaspora during “Marhaba 2025”
Morocco is gearing up to launch the “Marhaba 2025” operation, aimed at welcoming Moroccan citizens residing abroad during the summer period, spanning from June 15 to September 15. These preparations include enhancing transportation services and ensuring safety and security conditions to provide the best circumstances for returning home.
In this context, Mustapha Baitas, government spokesperson, revealed today, Thursday, in a statement following the government council meeting, that the maritime transport capacity has been bolstered to meet the increasing demand.
Baitas explained that 520 maritime trips will be secured weekly, with a capacity of nearly 500,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles.
He added that this operation will rely on a fleet of 29 vessels belonging to seven shipping companies, operating on 12 maritime routes that connect Moroccan ports with those in France, Spain, and Italy.
The spokesperson also confirmed that safety and security measures will be enhanced through strengthened border control mechanisms and the establishment of 24 reception centers, including 18 centers within the kingdom and 6 centers abroad.
He further noted that specialized medical teams will be mobilized along roads and rest stops, and consular centers will operate on a continuous basis during weekends and public holidays throughout the operation period.
