Airbus Confirms Its Desire to Expand Investments in Morocco and Strengthen Strategic Partnership

The Airbus Group has announced its intention to expand investments and enhance its presence in Morocco, considering the country a strategic partner in the aviation industry.

Wouter Van Wersch, the Executive Vice President for International Affairs at the group, confirmed that Morocco offers an ideal investment environment thanks to its skilled workforce and strategic location. This statement came following a meeting between a high-level Moroccan delegation and the group’s officials at the Paris Air Show held in the outskirts of Paris. The Moroccan delegation included the Ministers of Transport and Logistics, Industry and Trade, and Investment, alongside the Director General of the Agency for Investment and Export Development.

Van Wersch praised the discussions with the Moroccan side, noting that the group currently employs nearly 2,000 workers in Morocco, especially after acquiring Spirit AeroSystems, a specialized aircraft structures factory in Casablanca.

Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour highlighted the shared industrial prospects between Morocco and Airbus, pointing to collaborative efforts to establish an assembly unit for aircraft, particularly the A220 model, as part of the expansion of industrial presence in the kingdom.

Minister Delegate Karim Zeidan confirmed that the meeting with Airbus officials comes at an opportune time, especially with Morocco’s plan to expand the Royal Air Maroc fleet to 200 planes by 2037, which enhances the attractiveness of the Moroccan market for major aerospace manufacturers.

For his part, Abdessamad Quyiuh, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, noted that progress on major projects such as the new aeronautical hub in Casablanca opens new horizons for international industrial partnerships.

Ali Sadiqi, the Director General of the Agency for Investment and Export Development, emphasized that Morocco boasts outstanding human capital and international standard infrastructure, making it well-suited to host quality investments in aviation.

During the exhibition, Morocco set up a special pavilion featuring six national companies in the aviation sector, aimed at promoting local expertise and showcasing available investment opportunities.

Over the past two decades, Morocco has solidified its position as a competitive industrial platform in the aviation sector, attracting major global companies such as Boeing, Airbus, and Safran, reflecting its development as a regional hub for advanced industries.
