A police officer in Fez fired his service weapon on the evening of Sunday, June 8, to apprehend a person with a criminal record who was the subject of an arrest warrant related to assaults on individuals.
The security intervention followed an attempt by public security patrol officers to detain the individual due to his involvement in the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages, as well as assault with a white weapon. The suspect refused to comply and violently resisted using a knife and glass bottles, posing a serious threat to the police officers.
The police response resulted in the suspect being injured in the lower limbs. He was transported to the hospital, where he is under medical supervision pending the completion of judicial investigations. The public prosecution has ordered an inquiry to determine the circumstances of the incident and reveal the criminal acts attributed to him.
