The Ministry of Equipment and Water has announced the launch of a preliminary technical study for the construction of a new intercity motorway linking the capital, Rabat, with Casablanca, as part of the national program to develop road infrastructure.

The project aims to enhance connectivity between key economic axes by linking five existing strategic roadways. This includes motorways between Rabat-Casablanca, Tit Mellil-Berrechid, Casablanca-Berrechid, and Casablanca-Had Soualem, with a connection via Regional Road 320 in Dar Bouazza.

The project is designed to alleviate traffic congestion, especially at the entrances to Casablanca, and improve connectivity between major economic areas, as well as support urban mobility between the two largest cities in the kingdom. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen the national motorway network.

This announcement is part of a comprehensive strategy by the Ministry of Equipment and Water to develop road infrastructure, as current routes between Rabat and Casablanca experience high traffic density requiring sustainable solutions.

The technical study is expected to identify engineering standards and the economic feasibility of the project, paving the way for the actual implementation phase, which has not yet been scheduled.
