The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication has announced the opening of the National Institute of Higher Music and Choreographic Arts (INSMAC) starting in the academic year 2025-2026. This strategic step aims to enhance artistic education and promote cultural and creative industries in Morocco.
This new artistic hub will be established in the heart of the capital, Rabat, covering an area of more than 9,000 square meters, near Mohammed V Theater, at the intersection of Moulay Rachid and Patrice Lumumba streets, as well as Mansour Al Dhahbi Street. The institute will be the first higher education institution specializing in music and choreographic arts at the national level, aspiring to become a center of excellence for academic training and scientific research in these fields.
This project aligns with the national dynamic aimed at valuing artistic education, as the institute seeks to train a new generation of artists, educators, and creative professionals capable of meeting the demands of the local and international cultural market. It also aims to advance scientific research in music and choreographic arts, corresponding to the richness and diversity of Moroccan cultural heritage.
The institute will adopt an integrated approach that combines music and choreographic paths, offering a comprehensive training program that balances artistic excellence, technical precision, and intellectual openness. It will follow the Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate system (LMD), providing both theoretical and practical education that includes technical lessons for musicians and choreographers, transversal knowledge materials, and general training related to contemporary cultural challenges.
To ensure educational quality, the institute will be equipped with modern infrastructure that meets the highest international standards, including a 400-seat theater, a state-of-the-art recording studio, multifunctional educational spaces, classrooms, lecture halls, and a multimedia library, along with relaxation facilities such as a café and dining area.
Registration is expected to begin immediately after the announcement of the baccalaureate exam results in July 2025, with the institute officially opening at the start of the academic year. This project reflects the ministry’s firm commitment to promoting the quality of artistic education and training competencies capable of keeping pace with the evolution of cultural and creative industries, thereby enhancing Moroccan musical identity on the international stage.
