The House of Councillors has approved, by majority vote, the draft law No. 46.21 concerning the profession of judicial commissioner in a legislative session held yesterday, Tuesday.
The draft law received the backing of 32 parliamentary councilors, while one councilor abstained from voting.
In his introductory speech for the draft law, Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi emphasized that the initiative aims to qualify the profession and strengthen its role within the justice system by expanding its qualitative and geographical jurisdiction and enhancing the profession through a review of certain access conditions.
The minister noted that this legislative text also seeks to enrich the profession with qualified competencies by allowing notary public officers to join, while enhancing the guarantees provided to those interacting with members of the profession in terms of protecting their rights.
He also mentioned that the draft law stipulates legal protections for members of the profession by establishing new legal provisions, strengthening the supervising bodies, and achieving women’s representation within the national council in proportion to their numbers in these bodies.
