The Federal Migration Commissioner of Germany, Joachim Stamp, confirmed yesterday in Essaouira that Morocco is considered a “strategic and reliable” partner for Germany in the field of migration.

In a press statement following his chairing of the third session of the Permanent Joint Moroccan-German Migration Group alongside Khalid Zerouali, the Director of Migration and Border Control at the Ministry of the Interior, Stamp praised the “strength and depth of the migration partnership between Morocco and Germany,” highlighting the mutual desire of both countries to further enhance their cooperation in this area.

The German official, who led a high-level delegation, stated that “Morocco is a trustworthy partner, and we maintain a collaboration based on mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a common vision of migration as a driver for development.” He expressed appreciation for the “friendly and trust-filled atmosphere” that characterized this meeting, which allowed both parties to conduct an in-depth review of various migration-related aspects through several working groups.

After emphasizing the “excellent and exemplary” relations between Morocco and the Federal Republic of Germany, Stamp commended the “notable contribution” of the Moroccan community residing in Germany, describing it as a “true wealth” for German society.

Discussing prospects for regular mobility, the German official addressed the new German law on skilled migration, which “provides tangible opportunities for young Moroccans wishing to work, study, or train in Germany within a legal and structured framework.”

On the economic front, Stamp expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the renewable energy sector, which has manifested in major energy projects in Essaouira supported by German industry.

This meeting, attended by several high-ranking officials, falls within the constructive dynamics of the migration partnership and aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Morocco and Germany.
