The Atlas Cubs kick off their continental journey with a match against Kenya in the African Cup of Nations U-20.
The Moroccan U-20 national team will begin its participation in the African Cup of Nations finals this Thursday evening, facing off against the Kenyan team in the first round of the group stage. The match will take place at the “Defence Air” stadium starting at 7 PM (GMT+1).
The Atlas Cubs aim to achieve a strong start that will allow them to secure three points, giving them a morale boost ahead of their upcoming matches against Nigeria and Tunisia in what is considered one of the toughest groups in the tournament.
The national team is led by coach Mohamed Wahbi, who aspires to continue the momentum of Moroccan football on the continental stage by reaching the later stages and competing for the continental title, which has eluded Morocco for 28 years.
The match will be officiated by South African referee Zenitha Akhona Makalima, assisted by Zambian Diana Chikoutiska and Mauritanian Ba Kalido Delba, as part of the initiative to promote female and African refereeing in major tournaments.
The Moroccan team enters this edition with considerable confidence and ambition, bolstered by the positive results achieved by its various age groups in recent years, raising hopes among fans to witness a new generation shine on the African stage.
