On Wednesday evening, elements of the judicial police in Larache, in coordination with their counterparts in Tetouan and based on precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, carried out a major operation against international hashish smuggling. This operation resulted in the seizure of two tons of the substance and the detention of eight suspects aged between 39 and 59 years, who are believed to be linked to a criminal network involved in international drug and psychoactive substance trafficking.

A security source stated that the operation took place near the coastal strip of Larache, leading to the confiscation of 51 packages weighing a total of two tons of hashish destined for international smuggling via maritime routes, in addition to a rubber boat, a marine engine, and two vehicles with forged registration plates.

The same source added that the suspects have been subjected to judicial investigations entrusted to the provincial judicial police in Tetouan under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to identify any potential further connections related to this criminal activity, as well as to arrest any additional participants and accomplices in these criminal acts.
