Reports: Abkar Refuses Renewal with Alavés

Express TV: Mustapha Filali

The career of Moroccan international Abdelkebir Abkar with Deportivo Alavés is nearing its end, following the announcement by the club’s sporting director, Sergio Fernández, that the defender’s contract, which expires on June 30, will not be renewed.

The Spanish newspaper “La Razón” reported that Abkar rejected all renewal offers presented by Alavés, opening the door for other clubs to benefit from his services without a fee.

It also noted that Real Betis appears well-positioned to acquire Abkar, as they are the only team among the three competing in a European tournament next season, which might entice the player to join.

The Spanish publication confirmed that Sevilla FC is closely monitoring the situation, especially given the tight transfer budget, making a free transfer for Abkar an opportunity not to be missed. Meanwhile, Osasuna, which seems set to sell their defender Enzo Bouémo for 25 million euros, urgently needs a replacement, and Abkar is considered a logical choice given his experience in La Liga.

It is worth noting that Abkar has been called up to participate in the Moroccan national team’s training camp ahead of their matches against Tunisia and Benin next June at the Grand Complex in Fez.
