Morocco Participates in the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Arab Summit in Baghdad

On Thursday morning, the ministerial meeting of Arab foreign ministers commenced at the government palace in Baghdad, as part of preparations for the 34th Arab Summit and the Development and Economic Summit, with delegations from member states of the Arab League, including Morocco.

The Kingdom is represented by an official delegation headed by Mohamed Ait Ali, Morocco’s ambassador to Cairo and its permanent representative to the Arab League. The delegation includes Abdel Karim Bensalah, Chargé d’Affaires at the Moroccan embassy in Baghdad, Abdel Ali Al-Jahiz, head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hicham Ould Salai, deputy permanent representative of Morocco at the League.

Additionally, the delegation comprises Mohamed Nouri, an advisor at the permanent mission, Tarek Badawi, a foreign affairs secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nour Al-Huda Sarf, a foreign affairs secretary at the mission.

This meeting follows yesterday’s session that included permanent representatives and senior officials from foreign ministries, dedicated to preparing the summit’s agenda and discussing political items to be presented to Arab leaders at their upcoming meeting scheduled for next Saturday.

During the meeting’s opening, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdellatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani handed over the presidency of the 33rd session to Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, whose country is hosting the current session.

The delegations are expected to hold closed working sessions to discuss draft resolutions and approve the agenda, amid expectations to enhance Arab coordination in light of the current regional challenges.
