Morocco and Cape Verde Strengthen Judicial Cooperation with MoU Signing

The Kingdom of Morocco has strengthened its judicial cooperation with the Republic of Cape Verde by signing a memorandum of understanding between Morocco’s Public Prosecution and its counterpart in Cape Verde this morning at the headquarters of the Public Prosecution in Rabat.

The meeting brought together the Attorney General of the Court of Cassation and head of the Public Prosecution, Moulay Hassan Daki, and the Attorney General and President of the Supreme Council of the Public Prosecution of Cape Verde, Luis Jose Tavares Landim, who is visiting Morocco with a high-level delegation from May 11 to 17, 2025.

Discussions focused on enhancing judicial and technical cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, sharing legal information and expertise between the two institutions, organizing joint scientific seminars and conferences, and supporting efforts to ensure accountability and improve the quality of justice.

Both parties emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in a framework that respects national sovereignty, mutual treatment, and human rights. The visiting delegation was briefed on the Moroccan experience in the independence of the Public Prosecution, as well as ongoing initiatives in the implementation of criminal policy, including updating the judicial administration and developing work mechanisms.

The signed memorandum establishes a practical framework for exchanging best judicial practices and developing joint action programs that reflect the direction towards a strategic partnership between the two public prosecutions.
