A moderate earthquake strikes the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region
Global earthquake monitoring centers reported a magnitude 4.5 earthquake today, Friday, in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, specifically in the Sidi Abou area of the Rhamna municipality in the Khémisset province.
The quake occurred at a depth of 23 kilometers at 12:16:44 PM local time, and several residents in nearby areas, particularly in Rhamna and nearby rural centers, felt it.
According to preliminary data from internationally recognized early warning applications, the tremor was classified as moderate strength and categorized as “perceptible shaking,” meaning it caused some items to move inside homes, with no reports of damage or injuries as of this moment.
Monitoring operations continue by the relevant authorities, amidst widespread reactions on social media from local residents, many of whom confirmed feeling the tremor without any reported panic or confusion.
