A march was organized by members of the National Federation of Independent Taxis on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in front of the former Western Region headquarters in Kenitra, with participation from drivers from Kenitra, Tangier, Sidi Qasim, and Sidi Slimane.

The protesters expressed their rejection of the classification of taxis into two categories, deeming this division impractical and a cause of daily conflicts among professionals, along with the administrative and bureaucratic complexities that hinder the regulation of the sector.

Participants called for the integration of the two categories into a unified framework applicable to all drivers, which would allow for the resolution of recurring disputes and facilitate the work of professionals, relying on clear and fair standards for all.

They also urged the establishment of dedicated taxi stations in various cities to regulate passenger transport, preserve drivers’ dignity, and improve working conditions while facilitating citizens’ mobility.

Professionals emphasized that these demands represent a priority for organizing and modernizing the sector and stressed the need for a serious dialogue with local authorities and relevant parties to ensure an immediate response, thus guaranteeing professional stability and fairness among all stakeholders.
