A large audience characterized the sixth edition of the National Theater Festival in Kenitra
The sixth edition of the National Theater Festival, held in the city of Kenitra from May 9 to 12, achieved remarkable public success, with a significant turnout covering various scheduled activities. The cultural complex was packed throughout the event days, attracting a diverse audience that reflects the growing interest in theater and the desire to engage with live art.
This edition featured three main plays that received wide interaction: it opened with the performance of “Aghzil Al-Hadikat” by the Takada Theater and Folk Arts Troupe, followed by “Al-Mahawsha” by the For Life Theater Group, and concluded with “Bay’ wa Maqal” by the Thima Association for Culture, Art, and Continuing Education. The program also included artistic workshops aimed at youth in the fields of scenography, physical expression, and theatrical recitation, to nurture emerging talents and enhance their artistic taste.
Idris Tayti, the President of the Development Center for Education and Training, stated that the success of this edition is the result of tremendous effort by the festival team over the past several months, emphasizing that Kenitra has always been a source of art and creativity. He added that art and theater play a fundamental role in shaping generations and instilling noble values in youth, highlighting the importance of ongoing support for such cultural initiatives.
For his part, Hamza Zenani, a member of the organizing team, confirmed that the audience’s strong interaction with the performances exceeded expectations, and that the meticulous organization and prior coordination with various artistic teams contributed to the success of this edition. He noted that the festival has become an annual event eagerly awaited by the people of Kenitra, enhancing its symbolic and cultural value within the city.
The festival was organized by the Development Center for Education and Training, with support from the Kenitra Municipality and in partnership with the National Association of Moroccan Creators. It also honored several local artists, including Nour El-Din Benkirane, in a moment of tribute and recognition of his long artistic career.
