The “Africa’s Top Companies 2025” ranking highlights Morocco’s strong presence in the African economic landscape, with 15 Moroccan companies making it into the list of the continent’s top 250, including two that positioned themselves among the top twenty. Moroccan institutions dominated the North African ranking, with a substantial presence in the top positions, according to a report from the British magazine African Business.

Leading the North African ranking is Attijariwafa Bank, which ranks seventh on the continent with a market value of $8.335 billion, reflecting its status as the largest Moroccan banking institution in terms of continental reach. Following closely is Maroc Telecom, which secured the second position regionally and tenth continentally, with a market value of $7.307 billion, backed by its presence in over ten African countries.

Managem placed third in North Africa and 21st on the continent, with a market value of $2.462 billion, owing to its expansion in the mining sector both within and outside the continent. Meanwhile, Banque Populaire came fourth regionally and 22nd continentally, with a value approaching $4.513 billion.

Maroc Marine also stood out in the transport and logistics sector, ranking fifth regionally and 24th continentally, while Energia Maroc placed sixth regionally and 26th continentally with a value of $2.215 billion, confirming its vital role in local electricity production.

The ranking included several other major Moroccan companies, such as:

  • LafargeHolcim Morocco (8th regionally and 33rd continentally),
  • Bank of Africa (9th regionally and 35th continentally),
  • Ciment du Maroc (11th regionally and 47th continentally),
  • TGCC (12th regionally and 59th continentally),
  • Cosumar (13th regionally and 61st continentally),
  • Douja Promoters Addoha (16th regionally and 65th continentally).

The Akdital Group, active in the health sector, also made a significant mark by ranking 17th regionally and 66th continentally, with a market value of approximately $356 million. The list also included Wafa Assurance (18th regionally and 68th continentally) and Total Energy Maroc (19th regionally and 74th continentally).

This advanced positioning of Moroccan companies in the ranking of the largest companies listed on African stock exchanges reflects the ongoing progress the Kingdom achieves in sectors such as finance, energy, industry, real estate, and telecommunications, reinforcing its status as a key economic player on the African continent.

It is worth noting that the magazine African Business, published monthly since 1982 by the British publishing house IC Publications, serves as a critical reference for tracking developments in the African economy through its regular reports and rankings based on precise criteria.
