Mohamed Ould Rachid, President of the House of Councillors, held discussions on Monday in Rabat with several parliamentary leaders participating in the third edition of the South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum, organized over two days under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

During this significant parliamentary event, Ould Rachid exchanged views with Ali Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain; Hmda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Vice President of the Shura Council of Qatar; and Kandia Camara, President of the Senate of Côte d’Ivoire and President of the Association of African Senates.

He also held bilateral talks with Teresa Ivoa Asanguno, President of the Senate of Equatorial Guinea, and Fortune Zefania Sharumbira, President of the Pan-African Parliament.

These discussions provided an opportunity to explore ways to strengthen parliamentary relations and strategic partnerships, as well as to present available investment opportunities and assess South-South cooperation potential, aiming for broader regional integration and enhancing priority sectors.

It is noteworthy that the South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum, organized in partnership with the House of Councillors and the Association of Senates, Shura and Similar Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASICA), discusses the theme “Inter-regional and continental dialogues in the Global South: A key lever to tackle new challenges in international cooperation and achieve peace, security, stability, and shared development.”

In this context, the third edition of the forum focuses on exchanging experiences and exploring innovative ideas for joint development, as well as showcasing success stories from Global South countries, including Arab, African, and Asian nations, to draw inspiration from them, ultimately identifying and determining success factors.
