President Donald Trump stated that the United States wishes to offer financial assistance and airline tickets to irregular migrants planning to leave the country voluntarily.
In a televised interview on Fox News on Wednesday, he added that the United States is currently deporting “bad immigrants” from the country.
Trump also announced that they are working on a program for irregular migrants who wish to exit the United States.
In this context, he clarified that his administration intends to provide financial support and flight tickets for those who will leave voluntarily.
He went on to say: “If they are good and we want them back, we will work together to bring them back as soon as possible.”
In January, the Trump administration granted federal agencies broad authority to ramp up efforts to deport immigrants from the country, following presidential orders to declare a national emergency at the southern border of the United States.
After Trump’s inauguration early this year, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency announced the cancellation of the CBP One application, which allowed migrants to enter the country through legal means.
During his inauguration speech, Trump described irregular migrants as “criminals” and announced that he would send military forces to the southern border of the United States to bolster security.
