The Moroccan Public Prosecution Authority is organizing a scientific seminar today, Thursday, April 24, 2025, under the theme “A Citizen Public Prosecution for Rights and Freedoms.” The seminar will address the topic of “Protecting Rights and Freedoms.” It brings together a number of experts in human rights and law to discuss ways to enhance and preserve individual rights within the framework of Moroccan public policies.
The session will be chaired by Mr. Mohamed Baqali, head of the Human Rights Complaints Unit at the Public Prosecution Authority, who will lead the discussion among participants and highlight the main topics to be covered.
The seminar will begin with a presentation by Mr. Abdelhafid Admine, a professor at Mohammed V University and former member of the National Human Rights Council. Admine will discuss “Measuring the Effectiveness of Human Rights in Public Policies: How Enjoyable are Rights and Freedoms?” focusing on the challenges associated with the implementation of human rights in public policies.
Following this, Mr. Nour Eddine Wahli, the public prosecutor at the Sidi Slimane Court of First Instance, will speak about “The Role of the Public Prosecution in Protecting Rights and Freedoms.” He will emphasize the role of the Public Prosecution in ensuring the application and protection of rights at various stages of the trial.
Additionally, Mr. Anas Saadoun, an advisor at the National Human Rights Council, will present on “Procedural Guarantees for the Protection of Human Rights for Specific Groups.” He will address the importance of ensuring the rights of groups such as women, children, and migrants within the Moroccan judicial system.
Finally, Dr. Mohamed Baqali will conclude the seminar with a presentation on “The Role of the Public Prosecution in Upholding the Legal Guarantees for Detainees.” He will explain how to ensure the rights of detainees and protect them from any violations during the detention period.
This seminar represents an important opportunity for exchanging views and experiences among experts and specialists in human rights, reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to ensuring rights and freedoms within its judicial and political framework.
