At least 11 Alawite civilians were killed in central Syria during security raids carried out by government forces in the last 24 hours, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Friday, causing widespread panic among the local population.
The Observatory reported that “at least 11 Alawites, including university students, were killed in Homs province in the past 24 hours following raids conducted by security forces and allied groups, amid sectarian tensions,” although the actual reasons for the attacks remain unclear.
