The management of Ait Melloul 1 prison has denied the claims reported in some media articles regarding the alleged “suffering of inmate (G.B) from health complications and poor living conditions,” emphasizing that the circulated information lacks accuracy and does not reflect the truth.

The administration clarified that the inmate in question, who is serving a life sentence related to charges of firearm possession and premeditated murder, has indeed undergone medical examinations within the facility. He has been presented several times to the prison doctor due to complaints of back pain and has been provided with the appropriate medication, asserting that his health condition is “normal.”

Regarding the allegations of deprivation of lighting and showering facilities, the prison administration stressed that these claims are “false,” highlighting that the cell in which the inmate resides is equipped with adequate lighting and ventilation, and he benefits from regular showering. It also noted that the inmate sometimes voluntarily refrains from exercising certain rights, such as showering, family visits, and outdoor recreation.

The administration concluded its statement by indicating that the inmate exhibits “violent and aggressive” behavior towards both staff and other inmates, complicating his management within the prison environment.
