Spain experienced a widespread power outage on Monday, starting at 12:35 PM, disrupting vital services and halting daily life in several areas.

Media reports indicate that the outage affected large parts of Spain and Portugal, as well as the Landes region in southwest France, where local authorities recorded unexpected electricity cuts but have not yet announced the reasons officially.

Spanish media noted that parts of the Madrid metro were evacuated following the extensive power outage, with significant traffic congestion reported in the capital due to traffic lights malfunctioning.

The causes of these outages are still under investigation, with suggestions that they may be linked to a technical failure within the regional power grid.

The Spanish government stated that it is working to determine the reason for the power outage, according to a message released via text.

The Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands were not affected by the power outage.
