Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish Prime Minister, has called for a meeting of the National Security Council at the presidential palace following a nationwide power outage.

In this context, the Spanish electricity grid operator estimated that it would take between six and ten hours to restore power after a widespread outage that affected the entire Iberian Peninsula since 10:30 GMT.

Eduardo Prieto, the operations director at the Spanish electricity network, told Cadena Ser radio, “We can expect a delay of between six and ten hours if everything goes well. Some supply points have already been repaired.”
