Rabat is hosting the third edition of the African Football Agents Conference
Today, Monday, the third edition of the African Football Agents Conference opened in Rabat under the motto “Let’s Build Together the Future of Football,” featuring prominent participants from the global football arena.
During his opening speech, Michael Soudiكي, president of the African Football Agents Association, expressed his gratitude to Morocco for hosting and supporting this event, which he regarded as a crucial opportunity to establish a clear and joint organization that aligns with the realities of football in Africa. He emphasized the importance of providing a structured framework for African agents to voice their opinions and work collectively to defend their interests and those of the players they represent. He highlighted Morocco’s expertise and experience as a strategic hub for the development of African football.
Fouzi Lekjaâ, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, underscored the vital role that player agents play from talent discovery to professionalization and beyond. He noted that this role requires precise monitoring, sound advice, and social integration. He explained that Africa remains a rich source of football talent but benefits little from the added value it creates on a global scale. He called for smart efforts to ensure that a significant portion of this value returns to Africa to contribute to the continent’s football development.
The opening ceremony included the signing of a partnership agreement between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the International University of Rabat aimed at academically and professionally training football agents to enhance their skills in supporting players.
According to the organizers, this conference provides a unique opportunity to explore the strategic challenges of the agent profession, discover innovative initiatives, and discuss ways to develop African football. The conference’s activities include discussions on policymakers’ vision regarding the role of the agent in the continent, the new regulations from FIFA concerning player agents, as well as showcasing success stories of football agents in Africa.
