“Morocco Week” Returns to Nouakchott… New Bridges for Cooperation and Development
Driven by a mutual desire to deepen cooperation and enhance fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the South Forum, in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Nouakchott, is organizing the second edition of Morocco Week in Mauritania from April 24 to 30, 2025, in the capital city of Nouakchott.
This annual event provides a unique opportunity for exchanging experiences and fostering closeness between economic, cultural, and media actors from both countries, featuring a rich program that includes various fields such as tourism, handicrafts, heritage, and regional marketing.
A high-level Moroccan delegation is expected to attend, comprising ministers, government officials, prominent civil society figures, artisans, artists, and intellectuals, reflecting the multidimensional character of bilateral relations and adding cultural and economic diversity to the week’s activities.
The South Forum, chaired by Sheikh Mohamed Fadel Maalainin, continues to play a pivotal role in cementing Moroccan-Mauritanian partnership through qualitative initiatives aimed at aligning with the strategic orientations of the leaders of both nations, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who share an ambitious vision for a common future based on development and solidarity.
The bilateral agreements, foremost among them the partnership signed between Royal Air Maroc and Mauritania Airlines, reflect the growing dynamics of cooperation, particularly regarding enhancing air connectivity and facilitating the movement of travelers between the two countries.
In the context of strengthening bilateral relations, it is worth noting that the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, previously visited Nouakchott to support Mr. Ahmed Ould Yahya’s nomination for a position on the FIFA Executive Committee representing Africa.
The Moroccan Embassy in Nouakchott, led by Ambassador Hamid Chabar, continues its intensive efforts to strengthen communication channels and establish mutual understanding and cooperation between the two peoples, with a view to building a brighter and more integrated common future.
