The Kremlin: Putin to Miss Pope’s Funeral

The Kremlin announced today, Tuesday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be traveling to Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, dismissing speculations that the Russian leader might attend the memorial service despite the international arrest warrant issued against him.

When asked by journalists whether Putin plans to attend the funeral scheduled for next Saturday, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, replied: “No, the president has no plans in that regard.”
