For the first time, the new Syrian flag was raised at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Friday, following the assumption of power by the new Syrian administration.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shabani arrived at the UN headquarters in New York to participate in the flag-raising ceremony, and he will also attend a Security Council briefing.
It remains unclear whether officials from President Donald Trump’s administration will meet with al-Shabani during the visit.
