Strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Qatar was at the heart of discussions held yesterday in Rabat between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and member of the Cabinet, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, who is on an official working visit to the Kingdom.

The talks focused on bilateral relations and ways to enhance and enrich them to broader levels, in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother, the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, may they be protected. This reflects the depth of the strong historical brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the remarkable dynamics seen in bilateral cooperation recently, which has manifested in the exchange of visits by ministers and officials from various key sectors that are priorities for both countries.

During this meeting, Bourita reiterated Morocco’s appreciation for Qatar’s steadfast and continuous support regarding the territorial integrity of Morocco and its backing for the autonomy initiative as the sole basis for resolving this regional dispute within Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial unity.

The two parties also discussed regional and international issues, reaffirming the consistent stance of both Morocco and Qatar on Arab issues, particularly the just Palestinian cause, with both countries steadfastly supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
