A crucial meeting was held today, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters in Rabat to assess the progress of works related to the preparation of stadiums, sports facilities, and urban infrastructure in anticipation of hosting the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for next December.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Interior, attended by the Minister Delegate for Budget, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, along with governors, regional and municipal leaders involved, and general directors of several strategic institutions, including the National Office of Railways, the National Airports Office, the Highway Company, and the National Agency for Public Equipment.
The meeting reviewed the status of works in the six cities set to host the matches: Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez, Marrakech, and Tetouan. Emphasis was placed on adhering to the specified timelines, with all arrangements made to ensure project completion on schedule. The attendees also discussed complementary programs that include urban upgrading, improving mobility, and renovating the surrounding areas of stadiums and reception sites.
Currently, more than 120 projects are being implemented in these cities. These projects comprise road infrastructure, transportation corridor expansions, enhancement of public spaces, and provision of essential logistical services to accommodate delegations and fans.
The meeting underscored the significance of this initiative as a strategic opportunity to enhance Morocco’s image at both continental and international levels, as well as a lever to attract investments, invigorate the local economy, and promote the cultural and tourism potentials of the Kingdom.
