Bennali Explores Strengthening Energy Partnership Between Morocco and the United Kingdom in London

Leila Benali, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, held bilateral talks today, Saturday, with Ed Miliband, the UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, on the sidelines of the “Future of Energy Security” summit in London.

The discussions, attended by Hakim Hajoui, Morocco’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in energy transition, renewable energy development, supporting green hydrogen projects, and strengthening energy infrastructure.

During the meeting, Leila Benali presented the royal vision for achieving energy sovereignty, emphasizing that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, continues to implement ambitious programs and projects in the fields of renewable energy and green hydrogen to solidify its regional and international position in this sector.

Ed Miliband praised the dynamic growth of Morocco’s energy sector, considering Morocco a key and reliable partner in achieving shared goals for energy security and carbon neutrality, showcasing the Moroccan experience as a model for energy transition.

The meeting reflects a mutual desire to enhance the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United Kingdom in the energy sector, supporting economic development, improving environmental performance, and addressing climate challenges both regionally and internationally.
