Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch chaired a work session in Rabat on Wednesday to assess the progress of implementing the employment sector roadmap announced by the government last February, with the attendance of several ministers and representatives from the relevant ministries.
This meeting comes as part of a series of gatherings held by the government to monitor the implementation of measures related to revitalizing the job market, considering it a strategic priority within the government program.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination among various stakeholders, highlighting that effective governance mechanisms have been established, which manifest in the creation of a steering committee to track the roadmap alongside a ministerial committee for employment that will monitor the progress made and evaluate the impact of the initiatives on employment indicators, with the possibility of implementing corrective actions as needed.
Akhannouch urged all stakeholders to increase the pace of work and intensify efforts to ensure the effectiveness of related government programs and measures, noting that the government has allocated around 15 billion dirhams for the implementation of this ambitious roadmap.
In a press statement, Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprise, Employment, and Skills, Younes Skouri, confirmed that every investment project must translate into sustainable job opportunities, stressing the need to remove obstacles facing businesses to enable them to realize their projects and create job opportunities.
He added that the meeting marks the beginning of a series of technical and sectoral meetings, which will lead to the adoption of concrete measures concerning facilitating investment and improving its connection with job creation, particularly through revising specifications and simplifying licenses and procedures.
For his part, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, stressed that the employment roadmap is receiving top priority during this phase of the governmental mandate, assuring that various government sectors are mobilized for its implementation, within the framework of precise objectives and regular monitoring paths.
He pointed out that the initiative requires a thorough evaluation of all measures taken to accelerate the pace of job creation, especially for the youth, and to harness all available national resources.
The employment roadmap proposes eight practical initiatives, including support for micro, small, and medium enterprises, activating active employment policies, reducing job losses in the agricultural sector, integrating active policies into a unified program to stimulate employment within enterprises, alongside improving the quality of training to align with labor market needs, and establishing sound governance in implementing this national project of strategic significance.
