Anger in Kenitra After the Death of a Teacher: Educational Workers Protest and Condemn School Violence

This morning, the city of Kenitra witnessed a massive protest in front of the regional directorate of the Ministry of Education, called by the union coordination and field coordinations in response to the national strike announced by educational workers.

The protest occurred amidst a backdrop of escalating attacks on educational staff, following the tragic death of a French language teacher at a vocational training institution in Errachidia, who succumbed to injuries from a violent assault by one of her students.

Demonstrators raised banners denouncing the deteriorating conditions within educational institutions and condemned what they described as the collapse of the moral and educational system, asserting that school violence has become a troubling phenomenon threatening the functions and societal roles of schools.

Protesters called for the launch of urgent educational and training programs that restore the values of respect and solidarity within the school environment, emphasizing that safeguarding the dignity of teachers is a crucial condition for reforming public education.

These protests come amid growing demands from a broad segment of educational workers for comprehensive reforms that protect them from assaults and restore the value of their profession, raising increasing questions about the state’s role in ensuring educational security within schools.
