Al-Talibi Al-Ilmi Holds Discussions with Heads of Legislative Institutions Participating in the Third South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum

Rachid Talbi El Alami, the President of the House of Representatives, held discussions yesterday, Monday, at the council’s headquarters with the heads of parliaments participating in the third South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum, organized under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

A statement from the House of Representatives indicated that Talbi El Alami met in this context with Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yumahee, President of the Arab Parliament, and Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The statement noted that the discussions focused on highlighting the importance of South-South parliamentary dialogue in coordinating, consulting, and exchanging experiences to enhance political dialogue and strengthen cooperation on shared sustainable development issues in Africa, Asia, the Arab region, and Latin America, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The statement further mentioned that these bilateral meetings represented an opportunity to appreciate all Moroccan developmental and solidarity initiatives aimed at enhancing South-South cooperation and major projects the Kingdom of Morocco has embraced under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, as well as to emphasize the need to strengthen joint parliamentary action in service of development and issues of security and stability.

It was also an occasion to become acquainted with various parliamentary experiences and to address areas of convergence and divergence among legislative institutions, emphasizing the importance of exchanging parliamentary experiences, ongoing effective communication between institutions and parliamentarians, and coordination in various parliamentary forums to support joint parliamentary work and South-South dialogue.

Yesterday, the third edition of the South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum began at the headquarters of the House of Councillors, running for two days, in partnership between the House of Councillors and the Association of Senates, Shura and Similar Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSOCA).

The sessions and meetings of the forum, organized under the slogan “Interregional and continental dialogues in Southern countries: a key lever for addressing the new challenges of international cooperation and achieving peace, security, stability, and shared development,” serve as a platform to showcase available investment opportunities and diagnose the possibilities for South-South cooperation, aimed at broader regional integration and cooperation in priority sectors, as well as advancing towards solid economic cooperation and expanding trade and exchange horizons.
