A Triangular Partnership Enhances the Digitization of Grain and Legume Imports in Morocco

On Thursday, April 24, at the International Agriculture Exhibition SIAM 2025 in Meknes, a strategic partnership agreement was signed between the Moroccan Agricultural Credit Group, the National Professional Office for Cereals and Pulses (ONICL), and PORTNET S.A. This event took place on the sidelines of the seventeenth edition of the International Agriculture Exhibition in Morocco, attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mr. Mohammad Sadiki.

The aim of this agreement is to establish a comprehensive digital system for managing bank guarantees related to grain and legume import operations, as part of the support for the digitization process within the agricultural trade sector. This step marks a pivotal phase in modernizing supply chains by adopting a “digitized bank guarantee management system” as a cornerstone in the digital transformation of import and export operations.

This new system, which relies on the secure and structured exchange of data through the PORTNET platform, is expected to reduce processing times, lower operational costs, and minimize human errors and data loss. This partnership reflects the commitment of the three parties to enhance transparency and achieve the highest levels of efficiency in managing commercial operations related to grains and legumes.

This agreement falls within the framework of the integrated digital strategy led by PORTNET S.A., aiming to digitize trade procedures and facilitate the operations of economic actors. It also aligns with the vision of the Moroccan Agricultural Credit Group, a leading banking institution in supporting the agricultural sector, which aims to provide modern financial services that meet the needs of farmers and investors and enhance their productivity.

Moreover, the National Professional Office for Cereals and Pulses has reaffirmed its firm commitment to securing supplies for the national market and modernizing its management mechanisms, leveraging advanced information systems that allow for the efficient and transparent tracking of market dynamics and financial transactions.

This initiative exemplifies a successful model of collaboration between the public and private sectors to develop an effective digital system that meets Morocco’s aspirations in food security and enhances the attractiveness of investment in the agricultural sector.
