On Monday morning, April 28, 2025, the Reconciliation Center concluded the activities of the 16th cycle of the "Reconciliation" training program, held at the local prison in Salé, with the participation of 21 inmates, including one female inmate.
This program is part of Morocco’s efforts to combat extremist ideologies and reintegrate those incarcerated for terrorism-related issues through religious, legal, human rights, psychological, and socio-economic training. The implementation of this cycle lasted for three and a half months, featuring a total of 214 hours of training and activities, with 161 hours dedicated to training and 53 hours to complementary activities, including theater, gardening, and handicrafts.
The closing ceremony showcased a theatrical performance conveying messages to dismantle extremist narratives, along with a documentary summarizing the key milestones of the program. The event concluded with the recitation of a letter of loyalty and fidelity addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, by one of the inmates on behalf of the other beneficiaries.
On the same day, the official launch of the 17th cycle of the program commenced, involving 26 inmates. In a speech delivered by the head of the Reconciliation Center, the main training themes for this cycle were highlighted, covering intellectual, religious, legal, human rights, psychological, and professional aspects.
With the start of this new cycle, the number of prisoners who have participated in the "Reconciliation" program since its inception has reached 390, of whom 74.05% benefitted from a royal pardon, whether through complete pardon, reduction of sentence, or exemption from fines.
The ceremony was attended by the General Delegate for Prison Administration and Reintegration, the Secretary-General of the Mohammedian League of Scholars, the head of the Reconciliation Center, the coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Reintegration of Prisoners, alongside institutional partners, experts, and supervising staff.
